People watching just got really interesting - PART I

I have to say that I love to observe other people. I take time while eating lunch on my own just to look at others and create a backstory for them.

"2 co-workers. Single. Mid-30s. Talking about their boss. They must be from the 450. I think they work at a bank. Their outfits are too serious, yet they don't speak like Lawyers. They probably have a crush on the same good looking boss. Tempted by his good looks perhaps. Maybe they are just kind to each to retrieve information from the other, and yet one will definitely make a move at the Christmas party."

I create stories like this often. I am probably not right. Yet, the fantasy of building this fiction keeps my mind entertained.

But. The best is when the story I tell myself is actually reality.

On a cold autumn day, I strolled in to my favorite gourmet sandwich shop in a little place not too far from my work. It was packed. There is something about gourmet sandwiches that everyone seems to like. How ridiculous to pay $14 for a sandwich, but what the hell. It's not like I'm going to make myself a chipotle chicken with mango salsa, avocado, toasted on a Ciabatta bread myself.  Ya know.

Target people watching couple spotted. Sitting down at the bar not too far from me. Hmm. Let me see.

"Man and woman. Very business-y. Early 40s. Look like co-workers but they seem to have some kind of sexual tension. She has a ring. He doesn't. Sitting at the bar. Going out for lunch could look too strange, yet, gourmet sandwiches is like a good middle. It's similar to going out on a semi-date, yet totally casual. Wouldn't want the other people from the office to get the wrong idea."

I keep eating my $14 sandwich, checking Flipboard, and scrolling through the ridiculous, yet hilarious Insta posts by @sarcasm_only and @girlwithnojob.

Look up. Back at my couple of the moment.

His hand is on her lap. Smooth move bro.

My story is playing out well! Well. Maybe they are married and he lost his ring. That's totally normal. My dad doesn't wear his wedding ring.

But. There's nothing that tells me that this couple is actually a couple.

I order myself a coffee, and keep trying to read their body language. I watched WAY too many episodes of Lie to Me. (PS. This show is AWESOME!)

She's shy, he's not so shy. She seems in to him, but not that much. Yet, he is looking at her with mega love eyes. So, maybe a new couple? Maybe she just got separated from her husband and this guy is the new rebound guy. Yeah. I know. I have quite the imagination.

So, finally, they get up. Walk to the door. And BOOM. He helps her with her jacket and sneaks in a little bisou. WOO. This is getting better and better.

I then get up and leave. Man. I wanted to bump in to these 2 again! I need to know the end of my story.

So. 2 weeks later. I walk in to a coffee shop in a completely other area of town. It's Saturday. I'm with a friend. We sit down on the available couches. I simply look around, just to see who's there, just like anyone does.

And then my best Saturday is about to unfold.

So who's sitting 2 tables down from my couches? Suave Business Man!!

My suave business man from the $14 sandwich shop is there, with.. ANOTHER WOMAN. Holding hands! Seem really gaga in to each other.

Holy Crap. This is like my own personalized soap opera.

I promptly tell my friend what's happening. and that I have seen this guy before with another woman. And of course, he's loving this story as much as I am. We decide to watch them a little.

This woman is different. Brunette. The other was blonde. Casually dressed. Cute hair. Looks much younger than the woman from the sandwich shop. And is TOTALLY in to my Suave Business Man.

This guy is killing it.

He may just be dating a couple of women at the same time. No big deal. Right? Wrong.

She gets up to go to the bathroom, and well I'm not 100% sure, but she has quite the bump at the tummy level. Yeah. You know what I'm saying. THIS LADY IS PREGGO.......

Now, I got to keep you on your toes...I found out a lot more about my mystery people, but I guess you'll need to wait for PART II to find out more!
